Waiting 2025

Charcoal, earth pigments and gouache on Japanese paper

Currently unframed, making it easy to post!

A pile of logs and debris was made at the Olinda Primary School oval, and every other oval on the hill. A waiting pile. Hundreds of logging trucks eventually took them away, and the rest pushed into huge burn piles. I made rubbings of several of them, and this was one of the first. For nearly four years it has been in the studio, waiting for its turn to become something more.

I used charcoal to make the initial marks, then earth pigments using soil I collected from the root balls of fallen trees.

A slow painting, with layers of time, using materials of the forest to heal.
